Choosing the Tank
Pearlscales can be easily damaged. Their scales can be knocked off with rough handling or by sharp objects in their environment. Be careful when netting these fish, for when they loose a “pearl” scale, it will grow back as only a regular scale. Setting up a fish tank in a manner that will keep your fish happy and healthy is the first step to successful fish keeping.
What to choose
The shape and size of the goldfish aquarium is important and depends upon the number of fish you are going to keep. Goldfish need a lot of oxygen and produce a lot of waste. Keep the tank size and shape in mind when you are buying your fish.
Tank Shape
It is important to give proper fish tank for your Goldfish. For imagery, choose proper goldfish tank that gives more space than others. You should consider a elongated shaped tank would have more space than tall tank. Always fill your tank near the limit of the tank. It will give more space and oxygen for your goldfish.
Tank Size
20 Gallon Fish Tank
The size of your aquarium determines how many fish you can reliably keep in it. Normally, the rule for tropical aquariums is 1" of fish body length (not counting fins) per gallon of water. So a 10 gallon tank could reliably support ten 1" fish, or five 2" fish for example.
A 20 - 30 gallon tank for your goldfish is a good size. In general, increase the size of the tank by 10 gallons for each additional goldfish. Providing a large amount of water per fish will help dilute the amount of waste and reduce the number of water changes needed.
Many people are skeptical about the limitations on tank size for goldfish because they go to pet stores and see 20 fish crammed into a 10 gallon tank. What they do not realise is that the actual water volume is a lot more than 10 gallons - a pet store will circulates water through all of their tanks from a common, central 3000 gallon tank, for example! Unless you are doing the same in your home aquarium, you need to restrict the number of fish according to the size tank you have.

Water Rules
Please keep in mind that tank shape and size is important when you want to buy a new aquarium or fish tank . For proportion only, think that 1 inch of your young goldfish will need 1 gallon of water. As they grow they will need more space than young fish.
Fish - Size and Growth
Refer to tank size and water rule as described above. Buy fewer fish when they are young because as they grow bigger, they will require more space. Larger gold fish consume much more oxygen than young ones. So always prepare for more space to anticipate for your fish to grow.
Aquarium Decor and Substrate
You can add some decor, but make sure that all ornamentation is smooth with no protruding points or sharp edges. Smooth rocks or driftwood, should be used sparingly if at all.
Aquarium plants would be the best choice of aquarium decor for goldfish, but unfortunately these fish are diggers. Consequently live plants may be uprooted. Artificial plants make a good substitute and silk plants are safer than plastic ones.
Provide a gravel substrate to help create a natural and comfortable environment for your fish. Medium sized gravel works best.
